A member of the erstwhile CSP cadre, he served as SubDivisional Officer (SDO),Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Divisional Commissioner in the field administration of Bangladesh.He also worked in various ministries, autonomous bodies and departments of the government. He was Commercial Counsellor in Bangladesh Embassy,Tokyo for more than 5 years.

Raza Chowdhury obtainedM.Sc degree in Chemistry from Dhaka University and Masters in Public Administration (MPA)from Harvard University with major in Economics and Government. He was also a teacher inChemistry Department of Dhaka University.

The rare privilege of working in the two exalted offices as Private Secretary to the President of Bangladesh and later to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh gave him the unique opportunity to intimately witness how the Government operate in its totality amid competing paradigms. After retirement he was advisor to a group of industries in the textile sector for several years.
